Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

THE INTRODUCTION BY THE PRESIDENT OF COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY,Lee Bollinger

Comments by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose remarks were translated from Farsi.

—On a toughly worded criticism in the introduction by Columbia University president Lee Bollinger, who called him a "petty and cruel dictator":

I think the text read by the dear gentleman here, more than addressing me, was an insult to information and the knowledge of the audience here, present here. In a university environment we must allow people to speak their mind, to allow everyone to talk so that the truth is eventually revealed by all.

—On the Holocaust:

Why is it that the Palestinian people are paying the price for an event they had nothing to do with?

—On Holocaust deniers:

My question was simple: There are researchers who want to approach the topic from a different perspective. Why are they put into prison? Right now, there are a number of European academics who have been sent to prison because they attempted to write about the Holocaust or research it from a different perspective, questioning certain aspects of it. My question is: Why isn't it open to all forms of research?

—On Israel as a Jewish state:

We love all nations. We are friends with the Jewish people. There are many Jews living in Iran with security. You must understand that in our constitution and our laws and the parliamentary elections for every 150,000 people we get one representative in the parliament. For the Jewish community one-fifth of this number they still get one independent representative in the parliament. Our proposal to the Palestinian plight is a humanitarian and a democratic proposal. What we say is that to solve this 60-year problem, we must allow the Palestinian people to decide about its future for itself.

—On nuclear research:

Some big powers create a monopoly over science and prevent other nations in achieving scientific development as well. This, too, is one of the surprises of our time. Some big powers do not want to see the progress of other societies and nations. They turn to thousands of reasons, make allegations, place economic sanctions to prevent other nations from developing and advancing, all resulting from their distance from human values and the teachings of the divine prophets. Regretfully, they have not been trained to serve mankind.

—On 9/11:

Why did this happen? What caused it? What conditions led to it? .. Who truly was involved? Who was really involved and put it all together?

—On executions of homosexuals in Iran:

In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that like in your country. ... In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who's told you that we have this.

WHEN BLOGS ARE USED FOR EVIL ! ! !

THIS COMMENTARY IS FROM OTHERCRAP.COM A GREAT WEBSITE FOR RANDOM FUNNY STUFF
This is really a boon for the people who create the ad campaigns, since they very well could have posted the anonymous comments in the first place! If they can't find someone who says exactly what they want, they can post the exact words they want under a screen nic, then quote their own comments as an example of what "others are saying." SWEET!

In theory, one could go to The Huffington Post, register a nickname, then post a comment that Rudy Giuliani has sex with sheep. Then one could run an ad saying "Dems refused to renounce site with sheep-fucking claim."

Alternately, one might post a comment on the same site that Hillary Clinton has sex with sheep, then run an ad saying "Even the liberal blogs admit Clinton's perversions."

In the case cited in the article, a narrator recounts what "others are saying" about a candidate. As quotes flash across the screen, the narrator says he is "running the most cowardly campaign I have ever seen" and "has been lying to voters the entire campaign." The narrator is quoting anonymous blog postings, which could in fact easily have been made by the same people who created the TV ad!

WAS THE "TAZERED COLLEGE KID" A SCAM ???

THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA INCIDENT A PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATION ?

The tasering of University of Florida student Andrew Meyer 21, Tuesday looks like a B.F. Skinner experiment designed to let the mice know they will receive a painful shock if they raise sensitive political subjects in public.

On the other hand, if they are supportive, as the students who cheered when Meyer was dragged away, they will continue to get their food and sex.

I don't know if this incident was staged. I want to believe it wasn't. But on some unseen signal, campus cops lunged at Meyer when he mentioned Kerry's membership in "Skull and Bones" and brandished a copy of Greg Palast's book "Armed Madhouse," which stated Kerry actually had won the election.

Meyer's questions were extremely relevant. He asked Kerry why he conceded the 2004 Presidential election the same day in spite of numerous voting irregularities. "Didn't you want to win?" Meyer demanded.

Meyer was implying that Kerry might have thrown the election because he belonged to the same Illuminati secret society as Bush.

When he was grabbed, he said, "Get away from me. I want to hear the answer."

Meyer was dragged away shouting, "Help! Help! What did I do? What did I do?"

Then he pleads with the officers: "Don't taser me bro'" He offers to "walk out of here" if they'll only let him go.

Then we hear him scream with pain "Ow..ow..ow...ow!"

Kerry's respect for the public and commitment to free speech was evident from his response. While Mayer was manhandled and tasered, Kerry droned on about how he wanted to answer this important question.

He even made a joke of it: "Unfortunately [Meyer] is not available to swear me in as President."

The painful incident was filmed from many angles . I urge you to watch as many as you can stomach.

PUBLIC REACTION

The reaction of the crowd was initially to cheer Meyer's question about not contesting the election, but it quickly fell silent. Then some cheered when Meyer was arrested. Some people protested, "police brutality" or "why are you doing that?" when Meyer was being tasered.

The media reported this widely. Drudge had it as a main headline. But while there was exposure, there was also spin. CNBC said Meyer had been a heckler, which is very unlikely since he began his questions by thanking Kerry for his speech. Fox News apparently commended the campus cops for using the taser.

Meyer was not without fault. He insisted on asking three questions and delivering a short prologue, saying Kerry had spoken for two hours, surely he could have two minutes. His tone was indignant. He broke away while being led out.

In situations like this, we must strive for credibility by behaving in a calm, rational, non-threatening manner.

PSY OP?

At least one Internet commentator "Withowlseyeswatch" (comment 39) is suspicious:

"If you have the time, watch the video of the Florida student incident about 20 times. Turn off the audio and watch. You will begin to see some interesting details not obvious to a person overcome with emotions seeing it for the first time. There are a couple of angles being shot from other spots around the room that fill in parts not seen.

If you have the time, close your eyes and just listen to the audio. Pick out the different voices and follow them through. Listen to Kerry in the background a couple of times through. He droned throughout the entire incident as if he were hypnotizing the crowd. His remarks were very strange.

Watch the girl cop at the beginning. See how she looks over to take her cue to make her move. Why were cops standing five feet behind the student? ...

Did you see part 2 when the officers whisked him down stairs? He was not the victim of electric shock. He was not in shock. He was excited by the impact of his improvisation. He was working like the devil to keep the drama going because his mates were running low on creative juices. They didn't know what to do. This was nothing more than street theater.

....Something was amusing to the surrounding students. Is it possible that the students who were laughing and sitting without reaction was because they knew this fellow to be a trickster?"

The prominence given Palast's book is suspicious because he apparently makes a case that Osama bin Laden and a Muslim terrorist network were responsible for 9-11. All and all, given the mass media coverage, this incident was probably staged.

This video shows the aftermath. Meyer doesn't look like a man who has been tasered. He is told he is being arrested for "inciting a riot." He tells onlookers to inquire after him because "they are going to try and kill me."

It gets even more weird. Meyer has a website which has received 150,000 visits since yesterday. The site does not appear to be political. On it he is selling a "pimp light" which "as a good Jew" he is offering at a "good price" ($89.) Apparently he has a history as a prankster.

BUSH THINKS NELSON MANDELA IS DEAD ???

...HMM, POOR GUY, ALL THE STRESS OF MIXING TRUTH WITH LIES IS REALLY STARTING TO SHOW
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Thursday defended his plan for limited U.S. troop cuts in Iraq and denounced Democrats for not taking a stronger stand against an anti-war group's attack on the credibility of his top Iraq commander.

Bush was speaking at his first news conference since delivering a televised address backing Gen. David Petraeus' proposal to withdraw about 20,000 troops by July. But as in his speech last Thursday, he defied calls for a dramatic change of course in Iraq.

"Progress will yield fewer troops (in Iraq)," Bush said. "In other words, return on success is what I said."

As he continued fending off pressure for a U.S. exit from the unpopular war, Bush took aim at his Democratic critics over a newspaper ad that excoriated Petraeus over his closely watched testimony before Congress last week.

The liberal anti-war group MoveOn.org drew widespread criticism from Republicans for its ad in The New York Times that mocked Petraeus as "General Betray Us" for stating that a troop build-up in Iraq was making progress.

"I thought the ad was disgusting," said Bush, who has relied on the general's aura of credibility in Congress to help sell his strategy. "I felt like the ad was an attack not only on Gen. Petraeus but on the U.S. military, and I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democrat party spoke out strongly against that ad."

"And that leads me to come to this conclusion: that most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org, or more afraid of irritating them, then they are of irritating the United States military," Bush added. "That was a sorry deal."

Responding to Bush's criticism, MoveOn.org's executive director, said: "What's disgusting is that the president has more interest in political attacks than developing an exit strategy to get our troops out of Iraq."

The U.S. Senate later voted 72-25 to repudiate the ad. Twenty-two Democrats joined 49 Republicans and one independent in denouncing it.

DEMOCRATIC EFFORTS STALLED FOR NOW

Efforts by Democrats to force change in Bush's Iraq policy appeared stalled for now after his fellow Republicans blocked a Senate bill that would have granted troops more leave time between deployments in Iraq. It had been seen as the Democrats' best near-term chance of gaining leverage over war strategy.

Bush acknowledged that the Iraqi government had to do more to help bridge the sectarian divide, but he said progress was being made at the local level.

"Part of the reason why there's not this instant democracy in Iraq is because people are still recovering from Saddam Hussein's brutal rule," he said. "I heard somebody say, Where's Mandela?' Well, Mandela's dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas."

Bush was referring to the former South African leader who helped reconcile his country after decades of racial apartheid. Mandela has receded from active politics but is still alive.

Bush voiced continued confidence in Robert Gates' support for his war strategy after the U.S. defense secretary told a New York Times columnist, when asked if the 2003 invasion of Iraq was worth doing:

"If I'd known then what I know now, would I have done the same? I think the answer is, 'I don't know."'

Bush conceded the Iraqi security forces' achievement of goals for taking over responsibility has been "slower than we thought." But he insisted the goal remained unchanged.

In his speech, Bush said security improvements had made it possible to start drawing down U.S. forces. But that will only roll back troop strength, currently at 169,000, to around the same levels before Bush ordered a major buildup in January.

Democratic leaders have said that Bush is trying to obscure the fact that most of the troops being withdrawn would have left anyway under current deployment timetables.

RON PAUL BLASTS THE FED ON DROPPING RATES

LOWERING THE INTEREST RATE ONLY HELPS INVESTMENT BANKERS NOT MOST AMERICANS!
ITS SIMPLE MATH YOU CAN'T IMPROVE THE ECONOMY BY DEVALUING THE CURRENCY !

A MESSAGE FROM RON PAUL

Dear friend,

Our American way of life is under attack. And it is up to us to save it.

The world's elites are busy forming a North American Union. If they succeed, as they did in forming the European Union, the good ol’ USA will only be a memory. We cannot let that happen.

The UN wants to confiscate our firearms and impose a global tax. The UN elites want to control the oceans with the Law of the Sea Treaty. And they want to use our military to police the world.

Our right to own and use property is fading because bureaucrats and special interests are abusing eminent domain.

Our right to educate our children as we choose is under assault. "No Child Left Behind" is seeing to that. And our right to say "no" to forced mental screening of our school-aged children is nearly gone.

The elites gave us a national ID card. They also gave us the most misnamed legislation in history: The Patriot Act. And these same people are pushing to give amnesty to illegal immigrants and erase our national borders.

Record government debt is putting a burden on our children and grandchildren that is shameful.

Yes. Our American way of life is under attack. And it's understandable that many are concerned, even discouraged, about the kind of country our children and grandchildren will inherit.

But we must never let discouragement become surrender.

One reason I am NOT discouraged is because I know I am not fighting alone. Each day I head out I know that you and thousands of other patriotic, freedom-loving Americans are right beside me, standing brave and true for what is good and right.

I need your help now, more than ever, to save the country we love...for the people we love.

My wife Carol and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary early this year. We are proud parents of five children and 18 grandchildren. We love them very much, as I know you love your family.

As a U.S. congressman, I always think about the well-being of my family and of all the families of our great nation when I cast a vote or introduce legislation. I also remember that I have sworn a solemn oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States.

For me, upholding that oath is the first and best way to preserve and protect the blessed American way of life for our children and grandchildren.

And now you know why I'm running for president of the United States.

I ask for your help. Please send your maximum donation today by going to https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/ .

Sincerely,

Ron

MYSTERY ILLNESS FOLLOWS METEORITE IN PERU

IS THIS PART OF THE MAYAN END OF DAYS PROPHECY ???

Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said today.

Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia.

Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP.

Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.

Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 30-metre-wide and six-metre-deep crater, said local official Marco Limache.

"Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned," he said.

WHAT' S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE ???

WASHINGTON (AP) - Several thousand anti-war demonstrators marched through downtown Washington on Saturday, clashing with police at the foot of the Capitol steps where more than 190 protesters were arrested.

The group marched from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war. Their numbers stretched for blocks along Pennsylvania Avenue, and they held banners and signs and chanted, "What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now."

Army veteran Justin Cliburn, 25, of Lawton, Okla., was among a contingent of Iraq veterans in attendance.

"We're occupying a people who do not want us there," Cliburn said of Iraq. "We're here to show that it isn't just a bunch of old hippies from the 60s who are against this war."

Counterprotesters lined the sidewalks behind metal barricades. There were some heated shouting matches between the two sides.

The arrests came after protesters lay down on the Capitol lawn in what they called a "die in"—with signs on top of their bodies to represent soldiers killed in Iraq. When police took no action, some of the protesters started climbing over a barricade at the foot of the Capitol steps.

Many were arrested without a struggle after they jumped over the waist-high barrier. But some grew angry as police with shields and riot gear attempted to push them back. At least two people were showered with chemical spray. Protesters responded by throwing signs and chanting: "Shame on you."

The number of arrests by Capitol Police on Saturday was much higher than previous anti-war rallies in Washington this year. Five people were arrested at a protest outside the Pentagon in March when they walked onto a bridge that had been closed off to accommodate the demonstration, then refused to leave. And at a rally in January, about 50 demonstrators blocked a street near the Capitol, but they were dispersed without arrests.

The protesters gathered earlier Saturday near the White House in Lafayette Park with signs saying "End the war now" and calling for President Bush's impeachment. The rally was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and other groups.

Organizers estimated that nearly 100,000 people attended the rally and march. That number could not be confirmed; police did not give their own estimate. A permit for the march obtained in advance by the ANSWER Coalition had projected 10,000.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan told the crowd is was time to be assertive.

"It's time to lay our bodies on the line and say we've had enough," she said. "It's time to shut this city down."

About 13 blocks away, nearly 1,000 counterprotesters gathered near the Washington Monument, frequently erupting in chants of "U-S-A" and waving American flags.

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson, speaking from a stage to crowds clad in camouflage, American flag bandanas and Harley Davidson jackets, said he wanted to send three messages.

"Congress, quit playing games with our troops. Terrorists, we will find you and kill you," he said. "And to our troops, we're here for you, and we support you."

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH RUSSIA ???

Norwegian and British fighter jets were scrambled to intercept Russian bombers over the north Atlantic, the latest in a series of such incidents, Norway's military command said Friday.

Two Russian Tupolev-160 bombers or "Blackjacks" were detected by the NATO allies flying along the Norwegian coast before passing by northern Scotland, a military spokesman told AFP.

"We dispatched two F-16s from Bodoe airbase (in the north of Norway) to identify them," Lieutenant-Colonel Jon Inge Oegland said, adding that Britain had also sent aircraft.

"It conforms with the declarations of (Russian) president (Vladmir) Putin and we are expecting more such flights in the future.

"It was nothing dramatic but we are of course keeping a close eye on things," Oegland said.

Putin announced the resumption of long-range flights in international air space while he attended military exercises on August 17.

Even in the weeks before his statement, Britain and Norway had to scramble jets to intercept Russian planes near their airspace. Russian bombers had also been making increasingly frequent flights near US territory.

Such flights were standard during the Cold War standoff with the United States and its western European allies, but were abandoned in 1992 amid financial difficulties that followed the Soviet collapse.

Russia's head of strategic aviation General Pavel Androsov has said the aircraft will not carry nuclear weapons and that the main aim of the flights was to improve training for pilots.

But the flights come against a background of increasing tension between Russia and some Western powers. Observers also see it as a sign of renewed Russian self-confidence on the international stage.

Russia has objected strongly to US plans to place anti-missile defence facilities in the Czech Republic and Poland, countries that were ruled from Moscow during the Cold War but are now members of NATO.

Earlier this month, Russian and Chinese special forces held a joint counter-terrorism exercise dubbed "Friendship 2007" in Moscow, underlining the two neighbours' growing security ties.

FIDEL CASTRO JOINS 911 TRUTHERS !

WALT DISNEY MAGIC ?

Workers at a Chinese factory making Disney toys are overworked, underpaid, exposed to dangerous toxins and forced to live in filthy conditions, a labour rights group said in a report Wednesday.

The study, released on the second anniversary of the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, said factory workers complained they were forced to work 28 days a month and up to 15 hours a day.

Staff at Haowei Toys in southern China also are not allowed to take time off during peak seasons, according to the report released by the Hong Kong-based Students and Scholars against Corporate Misbehaviour (SACOM).

"The conditions at Haowei reflect the failure of the Disney system to monitor and respond effectively to violations of the Disney code of conduct and the workers' rights the code professes to defend," the report said.

About a dozen activists staged a protest outside the theme park, waving a banner that read "No Disney Sweatshop Toys" and urging the US entertainment giant to improve working conditions.

Staff are paid 2.5 yuan (32 US cents) per hour, 62.5 percent of the legal minimum wage of 4.02 yuan, while overtime premiums are also below the minimum required by law, said the report compiled from interviews with 35 employees.

The study charges that managers fine workers five yuan for toilet breaks that exceed five minutes and 10 yuan for refusing to do overtime work.

The report also said workers in the paint spraying and pad printing departments complained that they were sometimes breathing in chemical and paint fumes for hours due to poor ventilation, exposing them to health risks.

The employees are not given insurance against work injuries, nor are they granted pensions, the study said.

The report includes pictures of filthy communal toilets in the staff dormitory, saying pipes are often blocked, causing waste to spill out.

Walt Disney said it takes "claims of unfair labour practices very seriously, and (will) investigate any such allegations thoroughly".

It admitted its own investigation had revealed violations at the Haowei factory, adding that action would be taken to rectify the problem.

"Disney is currently working on a factory remediation plan with the licensee who has placed orders with this factory," it said in a statement.

Hong Kong Disneyland, which opened on September 12, 2005, is struggling to attract visitors. The park would not disclose attendance numbers and would only say it has been given consistently high guest satisfaction ratings.
